If you’re like most schools, chances are you are sharing a large amount of student data with thousands of educational technology providers (e.g., the most recent EdTech Top 40 report estimating that the average school district has integrated over 2,900 edtech tools). Parents are becoming increasingly concerned with the technology being used in schools, which raises the question: if a parent came to you asking who you share their child’s data with, what they’re allowed to do with it, and how it is protected, would you be ready to answer?
This informative session will be specifically tailored for schools not currently using the the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC) and will explain how it provides resources for schools and educational technology providers to negotiate privacy terms, understand the data flows, and manage data privacy agreements, ultimately saving time and money while ensuring strong protections are in place.

Amelia Vance, Public Interest Privacy Center (PIPC)
Panelist:
Connie Bain, Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology (ALET)
Brittany Rizzo, Mohawk Regional Information Center
Nicole Sanchez, Utah State Board of Education (USBE)
